Scott’s Family

All comments()

After doing so well in its Sanlitun branch, Scott’s Family have opened another restaurant in Xiushui. Kitsch is definitely the word that comes to mind whilst eating here. Hanging on the wall is a hodgepodge of movie legends, political leaders and random pictures of fruit baskets. Somehow Michael Jackson being framed alongside Che Guevara and a 70’s poster for milkshake is rather endearing.  Despite the owner and staff not being Italian, the food here is surprisingly authentic (unlike the décor). There is a traditional Italian open kitchen where the Chef prepares your food in front of you, guaranteeing piping hot pizza straight to your plate. The portions are generous, there is also a small option for those of us who aren’t big eaters, and everything on the menu is incredibly good value! Starters range from RMB20 - 30 and mains start at about RMB40 for a large portion. If you are passing by, this place is definitely worth a visit! The service is friendly and quick, perfect for a work lunch.  Alternatively, go in the evening with a group of friends and enjoy the Italian wine over a three course dinner, with coffee at the end for those of you who are really feeling in the Italian mood, and if leaving the house sounds like too much effort they also do free delivery ;)
Chef Recommendation: Home-made ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and spinach with cream sauce (RMB40)
Personal Recommendation: Garlic bread. So simple yet I have rarely eaten good garlic bread in China. This one was freshly baked and came with a side of garlic butter and pesto (RMB15)
