Melo Lounge

All comments()

Melo Lounge is one of the prettiest venues we’ve seen in Beijing. Nestled off the main road in Lido but within a sylvan grove, its ground-level inner courtyard and second-story terrace are the stuff of al fresco fairy tales. A lounge in the classic sense, inside it’s all sumptuous leather banquettes, wood paneling and dim lighting. The stage houses a rotating cast of house musicians who sing jazz and standards.

Though on weekends they emphasize bottle service and table reservations, the low-key weeknights make this a perfect destination for a quiet nightcap. Individual cocktails are decent and competitively priced, if a little on the sweet side. Try their Gin Garden (RMB65), a blend of Hendrick’s, cucumber, Grand Marnier, elderflower-jasmine syrup and fresh lemon juice. Make sure to ask for one of the bar’s specialty popsicles, which are actually frozen mousses and come in flavors including mango, green tea and strawberry. Bottle packages start at RMB780 for Moet & Chandon or RMB1,300 for two Belvedere.
